First Mother's Day

Today I celebrate my first Mother's Day. Little Man and Mad Dog gave me a postcard that read "To the World's Finest" Mom. (DC Comics reference). They also gave me a Women of DC Bust to add to my collection - Zatanna. It's very cool. Her fishnets are real fabric.

In the past 2 years I have felt like I was looking in on the day, because of Miss G. I made sure she had Mother's Day presents for her mother and I felt left out. Don't get me wrong, I felt like a Mom for these few years I have know Miss G, but I didn't own the title yet. I do now.

The day doesn't really matter, what matters is Little Man. He is here and we're happy.

A Part of Something...

This year will be my first Mother's Day. Kind of cool, huh? This will sound corny but I don't really need a day - having Lex has made everyday special. He's just so precious.

I can't wait until he can actually say Momma! We coo back and forth when we're together, and even that just sends my heart racing. He's grown that much that he can try to communicate. As for the Momma thing - Gigi asked Mike yesterday on the phone if she can call me Mom. This was a shock to both Mike and I. Mike asked her why. She said that she wants Lex to be able to say it, and she wants to help him learn faster. I'll have to remind him that he has a very cool big sister.

Not the Right Time Crime Fighter

You can't say we didn't try! Today Mad Dog, Little Man and I went to our first movie together, and today Mad Dog saw Spiderman 3 while Little Man and I went home after 45 minutes. I think it was a combination of things that make this fieldtrip a disaster.

• Time of day - we went at 4:15pm, which is usually Little Man's bad hour.
  

• PoopMan came to Fight Crime - Little Man had a super poop just around that time and there are no changing tables at the movie theater since they think that Parents should wait until their children are old enough to see a movie to go back to film viewing.
  

• My Nerves - I was afraid of becoming one of the people I hate. You know the one with the child that is crying and you're thinking, "Who the hell would bring a baby to a movie like this?" Yup, I was afraid of becoming one of the people I had at the movies. Maybe Little Man picked up on this fear and was trying to teach Mom a lesson. (He's smart that way!)

We're sure to try again with so many movies coming out this summer that we both want to see. Maybe Little Man will enjoy Oceans 13 better or maybe Harry Potter (he was quite during the preview!).

Mom & Dad Storytime

Being a Mom now and working at Barnes & Noble I find myself around Children's book even more than before. So, I am going to try out a new group at the store. It is call Mom & Dad's Storytime Book Group. It will only run every other month or so, and we will discuss new and old books that will inspire future little readers. I hope the group is a success, there are too many parents out there that don't know what how important it is to start them young!
